Butcher Block Tables – Durable Quality
While most homes would merely opt for a butcher block there are those who are prepared to invest in a butcher block table which will complement their kitchen and at the same time serve the purpose for which these are made. Avid chefs and cooks find that these quality pieces of furniture not only look well but outlast cheap chopping boards which are likely to come apart after a few years. These butcher block tables are usually made of hardwood e.g. Maple or teak and if treated periodically with mineral oil, will last a lifetime. Buy a deep block table and even after repeated use it may be sanded or planed and made to look like new again. They are available in other woods, for example cherry or walnut and if you insist on an end grain finish, they will maintain their new appearance for a very long time. They are sturdy and more secure than a light veneered board which may slip when you apply pressure. Modern tables have drawers, towel rails and other accessories which make them a practical addition to any kitchen.
